Acts 17:16-34

I.                    Intentional Agitation

a.       Before we can reach out we must first look within

                                                               i.      Philippians 3:14

b.      Before we can be provoked we must see the need

                                                               i.      Paul looked and saw a city full of idols

                                                             ii.      We look and see a city full of idols

c.       Before we can meet the need we must set our focus

                                                               i.      What are your idols?

                                                             ii.      Matthew 22:36-40

II.                  Intentional Audience

a.       To the Synagogue We Go

                                                               i.      Going to who he knows

                                                             ii.      The normal delivery

b.      To the Marketplace We Go

                                                               i.      Going to a new arena

                                                             ii.      A different delivery

c.       To the Areopagus We Go            

                                                               i.      When invited to speak – speak!

                                                             ii.      Speak from common ground

III.                Intentional Avenues

a.       Creator                   v.24

                                                               i.      Luke 19:40 - the stones would cry out

                                                             ii.      Isaiah 66:1-2

b.      Provider                 v. 25

                                                               i.      Matthew 5:45

                                                             ii.      God is good even though man is not

c.       Ruler                       vv.26-29

                                                               i.      Of the human race

                                                             ii.      Of time and countries

                                                            iii.      Of His children

d.      Saviour                   vv. 30-34

                                                               i.      God’s great patience and grace

                                                             ii.      Certainty of judgment

                                                            iii.      Proof of all proofs – Christ’s resurrection
